If Martin Shipman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Birrell Burmeister sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jeffers Belford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brye Cubitt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Shipman, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After 14 played minutes True Balance FB got a freekick which was hit by Birrell Burmeister. Dale Lorenz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baxter Mosley in the 23rd minute of play. After 24 played minutes Gold Coast City FC got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Alcock. Martin Shipman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gold Coast City FC's Brye Cubitt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Shipman in the 34th minute of play. Martin Shipman scored 1-0 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Brye Cubitt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Brye Cubitt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Birrell Burmeister in the 40th minute. Brye Cubitt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Shipman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute Eden Ayrton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Lorenz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Baxter Mosley made the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Jeffers Belford mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the True Balance FB and the Gold Coast City FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jeffers Belford hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute Baxter Mosley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Lorenz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eden Ayrton struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Dale Lorenz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gold Coast City FC. Al Gannan's late challenge caught a Gold Coast City FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Al Gannan helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gold Coast City FC booed when True Balance FB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Al Gannan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kenneth Alcock kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 61 played minutes True Balance FB got a freekick which was hit by Adolfo Travers. Brye Cubitt came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by True Balance FB's Birrell Burmeister. But to his dismay, Birrell Burmeister quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Tommy Merz charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tommy Merz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 71 played minutes Gold Coast City FC got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Merz. Martin Shipman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brye Cubitt having to make a save. If Birrell Burmeister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the True Balance FB defense, Eden Ayrton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dale Lorenz. The True Balance FB fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dale Lorenz should have stopped the shot. After having played for 98 minutes, Eden Ayrton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gold Coast City FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eden Ayrton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. True Balance FB's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
