If Darley Pinhey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jordon Gillingwater during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Excelsior FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Jordon Gillingwater hit a great ball. In the 44thth minute of the game Lance Goucher who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Excelsior FC's Jacob Ceney was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Darley Pinhey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nick Turnor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jacob Ceney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Goucher in the 56th minute of play. Porter Mills struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Larry Beer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Excelsior FC. In the 74th minute Porter Mills shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Larry Beer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Excelsior FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lance Goucher came free, but Jacob Ceney reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 80 minutes into the game, Excelsior FC's Porter Mills nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Larry Beer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Lance Goucher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 87 minutes of play Excelsior FC's Jordon Gillingwater was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down.
