Seating: 1848, VIP seats: 160) Kevin Will might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gregg Pearson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kevin Will ran back to his position shaking his head. Gregg Pearson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kevin Will's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. Eraldo Scibilia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonia Shearn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee gave Fotas a penalty, 14 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Battle Muller, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Sunshine Coast FC's Gregg Pearson. 0-1. Gregg Pearson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Will, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Kevin Will might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gregg Pearson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kevin Will ran back to his position shaking his head. Neal Starling hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Benard Clist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sunshine Coast FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Benard Clist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eraldo Scibilia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Bent Beale kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eraldo Scibilia. That made the score 1-1 in the 24 minute of play. In the 30th minute, Antonia Shearn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Fotas's Natalio Costante in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After a defensive mix-up in Sunshine Coast FC's zone, Kevin Will stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregg Pearson came out of the goal and Kevin Will tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dugald Bowen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Gregg Pearson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Antonia Shearn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Natalio Costante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Kevin Will kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gregg Pearson. That made the score 1-2 in the 60 minute of play. Natalio Costante's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gregg Pearson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Fotas's Kevin Will slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gregg Pearson. That made the score 1-3 after 65 minutes of play. Kevin Will fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregg Pearson having to interfere. The Fotas fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Fotas's Kevin Will looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Kevin Will struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Gregg Pearson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fotas. In the 83rd match minute, Sunshine Coast FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fletcher Terris to maneuver through the defense. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sunshine Coast FC! When Natalio Costante came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Fotas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Natalio Costante couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Fotas could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sunshine Coast FC throughout the match.
