If Darley Pinhey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lance Goucher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antonia Shearn to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Sunshine Coast FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob Yard to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Keefe Tencer from long distance, 53 minutes into the match, got Gregg Pearson's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Larry Beer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bent Beale in the 55th minute of play. After 99 minutes, Bruce Glover mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sunshine Coast FC and the Cawdor players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match was over Cawdor could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sunshine Coast FC throughout the match.
