After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Angus Blattman managed to get in a good position for a shot. HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's supporters rose to their feet, but Angus Blattman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Larry Beer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darley Pinhey got free with Jarrett Prior in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, Lance Goucher dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jarrett Prior, 1-0. After 22 played minutes HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Bowen. After a defensive mix-up in Cawdor's zone, Angus Blattman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Larry Beer came out of the goal and Angus Blattman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute, Abe Brotherton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB's Jarrett Prior got control of the ball when Darley Pinhey tried to sneak it across the goal line. Angus Blattman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37 played minutes Cawdor got a freekick which was hit by Bob Hemsley. Ed Playford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. The supporters of Cawdor booed when HITIT FOOTBALL CLUB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Beattie didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute, Lance Goucher fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Ed Playford in the 53rd minute of play forced Cawdor's goalkeeper Larry Beer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angus Blattmans short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Larry Beer to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Darley Pinhey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute, Angus Blattman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lance Goucher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarrett Prior having to interfere. After having played for 76 minutes, Darley Pinhey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cawdor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darley Pinhey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Cawdor's Darley Pinhey in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Cawdor had won after a very even match.
