Payne Pegler could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Berry Huther made a huge save. The supporters of Eden booed when Sydney FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Whitsitt didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 14 in the game by Payne Pegler from a close distance when the talented Berry Huther managed to make a qualified save. Sydney FC's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Brett Eicke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eden's supporters rose to their feet, but Brett Eicke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Berry Huther breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sydney FC's Berry Huther played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brett Eicke in the 22nd minute of play. Sydney FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Payne Pegler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Carmichael Soekirno hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 55 minutes Eden's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jarvis Collins who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Jarvis Collins got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dugald Muncaster quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Payne Pegler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Berry Huther tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raymond Serena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brett Eicke ran back to his position shaking his head. Caine Snabl kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. If Brett Eicke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute Brett Eicke suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Logan Stanton during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 77th minute of the game. One of Sydney FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Eden:s goal. Berry Huther went to the wrong direction when Eliot Eastman was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Payne Pegler during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eden's Payne Pegler got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carmichael Soekirno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Berry Huther read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Dugald Muncaster made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Locke in the 98th minute of play.
