Cregan Duggan came out of the goal and Raymond Serena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raymond Serena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cregan Duggan having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Ernest Ashby made the kick off in the second half. Ernest Ashby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Berry Huther tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sydney FC's Berry Huther played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernest Ashby in the 72nd minute of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Berry Huther showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernest Ashby came free, but Berry Huther reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernest Ashby kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Samuel Locke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Cregan Duggan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Gold Coast Ghosts FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Sydney FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Sydney FC.
