But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Case Waterland couldn't finish the play. Dagan Reynolds sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 22 played minutes Melbourne City 2030 got a freekick which was hit by Nichol Coleman. Emilian Stârcea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justin Beverly in the 23rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Case Waterland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Melbourne City 2030's supporters rose to their feet, but Case Waterland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evan Moorby breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Case Waterland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evan Moorby having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Todd Fraser hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Lisdillon defense, Case Waterland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evan Moorby. The Lisdillon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evan Moorby should have stopped the shot. If Case Waterland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute, Case Waterland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Lisdillon's Evan Moorby got control of the ball when Nichol Coleman tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
After having played for 53 minutes, Berne Pukallus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lisdillon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Berne Pukallus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonty White's late challenge caught a Lisdillon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonty White helped the player get up and apologised. Jonty White kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Lisdillon's zone, Case Waterland stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evan Moorby came out of the goal and Case Waterland tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Justin Beverly recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Berne Pukallus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Emilian Stârcea made a huge save. Lisdillon's Evan Moorby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dagan Reynolds in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd minute Case Waterland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evan Moorby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
