If Raymond Serena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raymond Serena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Corey Maddern tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th match minute, Rowville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randle Wittber to maneuver through the defense. Sydney FC's Jarvis Collins couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 17th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Rowville. Berry Huther took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cullen Nunn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the match, Sydney FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cullen Nunn came free, but Berry Huther reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caine Snabl's late challenge caught a Rowville's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caine Snabl helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sydney FC's Caine Snabl got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Raymond Serena who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 38thth minute tested the skills of Corey Maddern when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Corey Maddern made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Locke in the 39th minute of play. Raymond Serena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edgar Addison charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgar Addison the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sydney FC booed when Rowville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Addison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Samuel Locke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corey Maddern having to interfere. Cullen Nunn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cullen Nunn made a kick off. If Amos Moran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an all-out effort, Rowville's Berry Huther threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cullen Nunn, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rowville's Cullen Nunn got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cullen Nunn in the 60th minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Berry Huther to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amos Moran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rowville's Corey Maddern played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Locke in the 66th minute of play. In the 69th minute Samuel Locke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corey Maddern saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Sydney FC's Berry Huther got control of the ball when Amos Moran tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raymond Serena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 78 minutes, Samuel Locke made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Rowville's Corey Maddern tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Raymond Serena blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Corey Maddern having to make a save. Raymond Serena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sydney FC's Samuel Locke got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sydney FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
