In the 14th minute, Kevin Petersen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coolimba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 19 played minutes Coolimba got a freekick which was hit by Al Sawbridge. Burns Notley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Petersen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Burns Bennett's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Broderick Tisdell was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Burns Bennett in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Broderick Tisdell saved Coolimba from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Burns Bennett was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kevin Petersen got free with Burns Notley in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 91st minute, Brisbane FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kevin Petersen fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Broderick Tisdell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Burns Bennett in the 94th minute of the match. The supporters of Brisbane FC booed when Coolimba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birrell Addison didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Brisbane FC were the better team. Brisbane FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
