Randell Warhurst was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hal Monson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. After 27 played minutes Darren Limmer rounded Brisbane FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-1. In the 31st minute of the match, Caine Mcinnes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Burns Notley saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sam Maybury sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute Darren Limmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Burns Notley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Randell Warhurst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hal Monson in the 37th minute of play. Randell Warhurst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Biddle Sparks in the 41st minute of the match. If Danny Terris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute, Danny Terris got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Davey Pack kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Darren Limmer was the one to do the kick off. Hernani Sydney's Sam Maybury got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Burns Notley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darren Limmer, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. If Davey Pack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Darren Limmer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Burns Notley having to interfere. Randell Warhurst was out of position in the 69 minute of play, and Hal Monson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Hal Monson really showed his touch with that goal: 3-3. Burns Notley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darren Limmer in the 75th minute of play.
