With his leg Bruce Wakefield managed to avoid a goal in the 14thth minute, when Rutgers Utd's Bryden Miels fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Team Cone's Alvin Keato got a free kick in the 21st minute. Reese Laing shot from long distance in the 21st minute, but Bruce Wakefield was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bennett Warhurst to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Al Allen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rutgers Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Al Allen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruce Wakefield breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 69 minutes into the game, Alvin Keato was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Team Cone's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rutgers Utd the free kick. He walked away shaking his head. Rutgers Utd's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
