Bryan Favas's late challenge caught a Crimson Eagles FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bryan Favas helped the player get up and apologised. Crimson Eagles FC made a substitution. Brand Hogan replaced Rod Facey. In the 11th match minute, Ellam was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryan Favas to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Damon Gronow ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lawrance Shorten was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Damon Gronow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Crimson Eagles FC's goal looked a bit too open when Larry Crampton came free, but Lawrance Shorten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Crimson Eagles FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Kevin Conlin hit a great ball. In the 22ndth minute of the game Porter Simpson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ellam's Doyle Newton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Raleigh Mclatchey's late challenge caught a Ellam's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raleigh Mclatchey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st match minute, Crimson Eagles FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raleigh Mclatchey to maneuver through the defense. Hal Norman's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Lawrance Shorten on his right side and into the goal. 32 minutes into the game it was 1-2. In the 37th minute, Crimson Eagles FC's Jones Addison ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Doyle Newton. Doyle Newton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. After 40 minutes, Michael Soekirno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ellam and the Crimson Eagles FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 40th minute, Michael Soekirno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ellam's Doyle Newton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Porter Simpson in the 41st minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Crimson Eagles FC's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Soekirno came free, but Lawrance Shorten reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Ellam's goalkeeper Doyle Newton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Porter Simpson. After 47 minutes of play Ellam's Bryan Favas was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 48th match minute, Ellam was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryan Favas to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

52 minutes into the game, Crimson Eagles FC's Porter Simpson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Doyle Newton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Porter Simpson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doyle Newton having to interfere. Larry Crampton kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Porter Simpson in the 67th minute of play forced Ellam's goalkeeper Doyle Newton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Porter Simpson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Doyle Newton having to make a save. Crimson Eagles FC's Jaffery Bowman suffered a concussion in the 77th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damon Gronow during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ellam's Damon Gronow got a free kick in the 77th minute. In the 81st minute, Brand Hogan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 83rd minute, but Lawrance Shorten got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Crimson Eagles FC hanging dry this time. After some careless play in the Ellam defense, Kevin Conlin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Doyle Newton. The Ellam fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Doyle Newton should have stopped the shot. Jones Addison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doyle Newton having to interfere. In the 94th minute, Michael Soekirno fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post.
