Payton Kiel ran back to his position shaking his head. Niles Hodson's late challenge caught a fc sturt's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Niles Hodson helped the player get up and apologised. Niles Hodson hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. 22 minutes into the match, fc sturt's goal looked a bit too open when Ryan Tebby came free, but Gregg Gilding reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Brookton defense, Roger Andrews kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oswald Verhaeghen. The Brookton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oswald Verhaeghen should have stopped the shot. In the 28th minute, Remington Pegrum got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Niles Hodson took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gregg Gilding. Gregg Gilding dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Gregg Gilding made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niles Hodson in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 37 minutes, Niles Hodson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brookton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niles Hodson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Remington Pegrums short, quick shot in the 38thth minute got Oswald Verhaeghen to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 42nd minute, Ryan Tebby ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregg Gilding was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2.

The wind increased when Payton Kiel made the kick off in the second half. If Niles Hodson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute.
