The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the match, Wakatu's goalkeeper Humphry Kuskoff had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Umberto do Valle. 8 minutes into the match, Wakatu's goal looked a bit too open when Bent Riley came free, but Humphry Kuskoff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Umberto do Valle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Humphry Kuskoff made a huge save. Ponciano Climent came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Wakatu's Ian Eversden. But to his dismay, Ian Eversden quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ponciano Climent stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ian Eversden's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. In the 30th match minute, Wakatu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Chute to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Ridgley's Bent Riley slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Humphry Kuskoff. That made the score 1-1 after 33 minutes of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roger Laughton during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience held their breath when Bleyd Babbage in the 38th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Humphry Kuskoff's left hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Umberto do Valle got free with Humphry Kuskoff in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 41 minutes into the match, Ralph Boserio dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Humphry Kuskoff, 2-1.

In the 53rd minute Umberto do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humphry Kuskoff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ridgley booed when Wakatu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ben Grigson didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralph Boserio in the 66th minute of play forced Wakatu's goalkeeper Humphry Kuskoff to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
