The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Redlynch's goalkeeper Tommy Pavkovic, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Dale Huntington came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Keilor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dale Huntington couldn't finish the play. In the 7th minute, Duncan Holdsworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Redlynch's zone, Dale Huntington stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Pavkovic came out of the goal and Dale Huntington tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cliff Kiel's late challenge caught a Keilor's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cliff Kiel helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Keilor booed when Redlynch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dale Huntington in the 25th minute of play forced Redlynch's goalkeeper Tommy Pavkovic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dale Huntington got free with Tommy Pavkovic in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Keilor booed when Redlynch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodney Easther didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dale Huntington recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 45 played minutes Keilor got a freekick which was hit by Navin Mcjunkin. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dale Huntington stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tommy Pavkovic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dale Huntington in the 54th minute of the match. In the 69thth minute of the game Dale Huntington who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Redlynch's Tommy Pavkovic was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cliff Kiel kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Redlynch's Tommy Pavkovic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jenkins Mcmurchie in the 75th minute of play. Dale Huntington blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tommy Pavkovic having to make a save. In the 81st minute Dale Huntington shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Pavkovic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jenkins Mcmurchie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Tommy Pavkovic tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dale Huntington in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Pavkovic prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Keilor walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
