Spectators: 9170 (Terracing: 6879, Seating: 2109, VIP seats: 182) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ian de Godoi got the match started through his kick off. Berny Holdsworth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marshall Busst in the 6th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, Cosmic Pigeons's Marshall Busst nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Berny Holdsworth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Andrew Howard kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Jenkins Glover took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Philip Jury. Cosmic Pigeons's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 20 minutes of play, Maribyrnong FC's Edmílson Mamais made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Philip Jury was left in no man's land by his defense there! 24 minutes into the match, Ian de Godoi notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Cosmic Pigeons's Philip Jury. Philip Jury was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jenkins Glover kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Drew Keato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Berny Holdsworth was a little too slow when Drew Keato got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 3-2. Berny Holdsworth didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dalwood Leach went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. In the 45th minute, Marshall Busst ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Berny Holdsworth was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marshall Busst was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marshall Busst in the 51st minute of play forced Maribyrnong FC's goalkeeper Berny Holdsworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd minute Marshall Busst shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berny Holdsworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Berny Holdsworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marshall Busst, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Berny Holdsworth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee ended the match the Cosmic Pigeons players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
