The shot was a little too simple and Petre Dimofte could save by the left post. In the 17th minute Angelo Callaghan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edward Schultz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Thoona fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Thoona's Angelo Callaghan looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Darren Paynter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Petre Dimofte having to interfere. Thoona's Petre Dimofte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Ridding in the 26th minute of play. After 27 minutes of play, Thoona's Angelo Callaghan made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edward Schultz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Adelaide's Edward Schultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Callaghan in the 31st minute of play. Edward Schultz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelo Callaghan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thoona were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Adelaide's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Biddle Beer took the corner. Angelo Callaghan struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Edward Schultz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thoona. 38 minutes into the match, Adelaide's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Callaghan came free, but Edward Schultz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 40 minutes, Petre Dimofte successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the match clock showed 47 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Marcus Huff sped through Adelaide's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edward Schultz. After the first half Thoona were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Angelo Callaghan made a kick off. Petre Dimofte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Boylin in the 52nd minute of the match. If Berne Chant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 minutes, Alberto Ridding mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Adelaide and the Thoona players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 58 played minutes Adelaide got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Ridding. The Thoona fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when Thoona's Angelo Callaghan looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Edward Schultz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Angelo Callaghan showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 76 minute of play. Christian Boylin hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. If Christian Boylin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Berne Chant managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thoona's supporters rose to their feet, but Berne Chant was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edward Schultz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edward Schultz made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Berne Chant sent off a good shot on target. The referee felt a red card was in order, 92 minutes into the game, when Lucas Duncan put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Adelaide fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 91st minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Edward Schultz, was totally fooled by Thoona's Biddle Beer, who 95 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Angelo Callaghan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Schultz having to interfere.
