The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Christian Boylin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Adolfo Mcvey. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. Adolfo Mcvey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carleton Atkin in the 13th minute of the match. A collision led to Adelaide getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Christian Boylin hit a great ball. Benjy Nelson struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Brian Brennand didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canobolas. Christian Boylin's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Adolfo Mcvey firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 26 played minutes Canobolas got a freekick which was hit by Fulgencio Quintana. 28 minutes into the game, Matthew Sanderson threw the ball into play from the sideline. Adelaide's Alberto Hickman quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Earle Leydin kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Adelaide's Alberto Hickman quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Neal Allcock, made in the 34th minute of the game. Brian Brennand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ignacio Manuel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Canobolas's Adolfo Mcvey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Canobolas from getting a goal against them.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carleton Atkin made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Boylin in the 51st minute of play forced Canobolas's goalkeeper Adolfo Mcvey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brian Brennand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ignacio Manuel in the 53rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Carleton Atkin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Adelaide's supporters rose to their feet, but Carleton Atkin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adolfo Mcvey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 57 minutes into the match, Adelaide's goalkeeper Brian Brennand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ignacio Manuel. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Adelaide fully deserved thier win.
