The audience was convinced that Daniel Afloroaiei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Martyon Diehl was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Drake Sobczak in the 37th minute of play forced Flying Hellfish's goalkeeper Kazimierz Wielkopolski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlisle Fenwick to strike the kick off in the second half. Boroondara Milan's Martyon Diehl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Afloroaiei in the 52nd minute of play. Carlisle Fenwick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Flying Hellfish's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl Howarth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 75th minute Karl Howarth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martyon Diehl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flying Hellfish's Byron Shipman managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Long Worsley in the 77 minute of the game. After 78 minutes of play, Flying Hellfish's Michael Miels made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Martyon Diehl was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Karl Howarth managed to get in a good position for a shot.
