In the 2nd match minute, América-SC F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hílton Souza to maneuver through the defense. Belgium's Casper Claes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Belgium from getting a goal against them. Arkadiusz Smolarek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 11th minute of the match. The supporters of Belgium booed when América-SC F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hílton Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of América-SC F.C. booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Floris Claeys didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute, Altuğ Vakkasoğlu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Belgium's Casper Claes didn't even have to move. If Yves Dervaux had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Resul Erdemalps short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Casper Claes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Resul Erdemalp's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Casper Claes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Casper Claes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elder Domingues in the 28th minute. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Arkadiusz Smolarek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. América-SC F.C.'s Arkadiusz Smolarek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 34th minute of play. Belgium's Casper Claes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Belgium from getting a goal against them. The attack was good, but when Edward Vanderstraeten in the 44th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Arce in the 47th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Resul Erdemalp to strike the kick off in the second half. When Resul Erdemalp came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the América-SC F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Resul Erdemalp couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Resul Erdemalp in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Casper Claes saved Belgium from getting behind. If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lucas Arce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arkadiusz Smolarek made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 63rd minute. The nice shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 63rdth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Arkadiusz Smolarek had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nigel Devos during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 66th minute Guga Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arkadiusz Smolarek. That made the score 0-1 after 70 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Belgium's Laurens Vandamme got a free kick in the 75th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabi Gol in the 76th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Belgium's Sander Dermaut managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hílton Souza in the 77 minute of the game. Arkadiusz Smolarek came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten. But to his dismay, Edward Vanderstraeten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 82nd minute, Gabi Gol ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Casper Claes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The supporters of América-SC F.C. booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sander Dermaut didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 87th minute Téo Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arkadiusz Smolarek made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 88th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belgium's supporters rose to their feet, but Edward Vanderstraeten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arkadiusz Smolarek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 97th minute, when Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Arkadiusz Smolarek in América-SC F.C.'s goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. Belgium's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
