Zaccheo Andolina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vivaldo Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Gianpaolo Mascari hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. In the 90th minute, Gianpaolo Mascari hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Italy's Adriano Curto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vivaldo Brito. That made the score 2-3 after 92 minutes of play. The Italy supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Italy would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
