When Denmark's Chris Nygaard in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Morungaba SC's goalie prevented a goal. A hard shot 9 in the game by Alf Odman from a close distance when the talented Keld Paulsen managed to make a qualified save. Denmark's players were relieved. Alf Odman did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Keld Paulsen 9 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Chris Nygaard put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Nestor Torres. After a rather tough play, Morungaba SC's Jarbas Fonseca got a free kick in the 16th minute. When Chris Nygaard fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Denmark's protests and gave Chris Nygaard a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Chris Nygaard. Denmark's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alf Odman 18 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. If Mikkel Wulff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Chris Nygaard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Denmark's supporters rose to their feet, but Chris Nygaard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Torres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Clóvis Albuquerque fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morungaba SC's protests and gave Clóvis Albuquerque a yellow card for diving instead. In the 24th match minute, Morungaba SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clóvis Albuquerque to maneuver through the defense. Nestor Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Nygaard in the 31st minute of play. Alf Odman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Keld Paulsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Chris Nygaard sped through Morungaba SC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nestor Torres. If Lars Steen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Morungaba SC's Alf Odman got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 41st minute Chris Nygaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Torres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alf Odman's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 43rdth minute, Keld Paulsen skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Mikkel Wulff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 47 played minutes Morungaba SC got a freekick which was hit by Amadeu Cardozo. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alf Odman was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Jarbas Fonseca came free, but Keld Paulsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alf Odman took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Keld Paulsen. Keld Paulsen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. If Bertram Svenningsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Denmark's Theis Winther got a free kick in the 61st minute. Dedé Brito's late challenge caught a Denmark's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dedé Brito helped the player get up and apologised. Dedé Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Denmark's Chris Nygaard got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bertram Svenningsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Torres having to interfere. In the 70th minute of the match Morungaba SC got a corner. Denmark's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Raphael Sá ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Raphael Sá got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Keld Paulsen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A collision led to Denmark getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Lars Steen hit a great ball. Chris Nygaard blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nestor Torres having to make a save. 77 minutes into the match, Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Czerniak came free, but Keld Paulsen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 78th minute Chris Nygaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Torres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Morungaba SC's zone, Chris Nygaard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nestor Torres came out of the goal and Chris Nygaard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81st minute of the game José Carlos Sanches made a throw-in which Gilbert Czerniak played forward. In the 84th minute of the match Denmark got a corner. Morungaba SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Chris Nygaard ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Denmark's corner Chris Nygaard fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nestor Torres quite easily take care of the ball. In the 89th minute, Mathias Ludvigsen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 90 minutes into the game, Morungaba SC's Jarbas Fonseca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Keld Paulsen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Denmark's Olav Graversen managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Amadeu Cardozo in the 93 minute of the game. A throw-in in the 95th minute of the game was made by José Carlos Sanches with Gilbert Czerniak as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Bertram Svenningsen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Denmark's supporters rose to their feet, but Bertram Svenningsen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Torres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Denmark's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Morungaba SC had won, even though Denmark had held more of the ball.
