Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that Rondo's Orestis Lazarou managed to reach the ball for a save. The audience was convinced that Lars Meesters's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Orestis Lazarou was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. In the 60th minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Orestis Lazarou was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Rick de Zee hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Rondo's Orestis Lazarou got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Orestis Lazarou took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute, Jurgen Winters got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Netherlands players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
