Tommy Kahn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emil Zaremba went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Frank Sachs's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Erivaldo Furlan was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. The supporters of Germany booed when Tamboril was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubens Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th match minute, Tamboril was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezequiel Duarte to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cacá Matorin got free with Tommy Kahn in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emil Zaremba to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Frank Sachs took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Erivaldo Furlan to make any attempt to save it. In the 58th minute, Germany's Ulrich Stein ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Erivaldo Furlan. Erivaldo Furlan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. After 61 played minutes Tamboril got a freekick which was hit by Ezequiel Duarte.
