After a defensive mix-up in Al-Slottshöjden's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adilson do Vale came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isak Deckbergh in the 32nd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adilson do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After 35 minutes, Pierre Schutrups mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Al-Slottshöjden and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 36 played minutes Al-Slottshöjden got a freekick which was hit by Pierre Schutrups. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Al-Slottshöjden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isak Deckbergh didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reggie Clement to make the kick off. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugo Söderkvist in the 53rd minute of play. After 54 minutes Netherlands's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Josef Hellbom who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Pierre Schutrups got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Arnout Reekers quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reggie Clement took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Adilson do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 65th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt got a free kick in the 66th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute the ball was on its way in behind Al-Slottshöjden's goalkeeper Adilson do Vale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
