If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 10th minute by Panagiotis Kaliasis got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Nial Peyton sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 19th minute of play forced Kolopetinitsa's goalkeeper Güralp Uğurtan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Lars Meesters heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Kolopetinitsa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikos Pantaleon didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nial Peyton in the 26th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Panos Tsabis got free with Arnout Reekers in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kolopetinitsa's Güralp Uğurtan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Luk Pieters hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Güralp Uğurtan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Kolopetinitsa's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Güralp Uğurtan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Netherlands's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Nial Peyton scored to the left of an out of position Arnout Reekers, making the score, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Kolopetinitsa's Güralp Uğurtan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 58th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Panagiotis Kaliasis came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Kolopetinitsa's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Meesters came free, but Güralp Uğurtan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute, Lars Meesters got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 71st minute Nial Peyton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Wim Wilmes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Güralp Uğurtan, passed just outside the right post. 74 minutes in the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Güralp Uğurtan having to interfere. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theagenis Theodorakoglou in the 81st minute of play. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Theagenis Theodorakoglou's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 96th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Meesters to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kolopetinitsa fans cheered their team off the field, for while Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
