An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 31st minute of play forced Trabzonspor's goalkeeper Yunus Civan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Trabzonspor defense, Sigfrido Auletta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yunus Civan. The Trabzonspor fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Yunus Civan should have stopped the shot. Akil Özgener made in the 40th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Bedrettin Özaktuğ.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zaccheo Andolina to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Trabzonspor's Yunus Civan got control of the ball when Zaccheo Andolina tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 82nd minute of the match Trabzonspor got a corner. Italy's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bedrettin Özaktuğ ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Bedrettin Özaktuğ almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Italy's Flavio Vittori did a great save. Adriano Curto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Curto in the 92nd minute of play forced Trabzonspor's goalkeeper Yunus Civan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute Kerem Erek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Italy's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
