After having played for 24 minutes, Orfilio Orbañanos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U. de Tarapacá's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orfilio Orbañanos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zaccheo Andolina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ariel Balboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 36th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Zaccheo Andolina sped through U. de Tarapacá's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ariel Balboa. U. de Tarapacá's Ariel Balboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 45th minute of play. After a rather tough play, U. de Tarapacá's Xaime Morales got a free kick in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Orfilio Orbañanos to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Italy's Zaccheo Andolina slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ariel Balboa. That made the score 0-2 after 62 minutes of play. Domingo Barcena scored 1-2 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flavio Vittori, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ariel Balboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 69th minute of the match. Ariel Balboa made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Sigfrido Auletta sent off a good shot on target. Zaccheo Andolina's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ariel Balboa firmly grabbed it by the left post. A sloppy throw-in by León Philippi in the 75th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Italy's Siricio Liotta. With a little luck, U. de Tarapacá's Ariel Balboa got control of the ball when Zaccheo Andolina tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ariel Balboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 80th minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ariel Balboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eliseo Cutri's late challenge caught a U. de Tarapacá's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Curto in the 95th minute of play forced U. de Tarapacá's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Italy left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than U. de Tarapacá.
