Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hjalmar Backlund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Niklas Ekeberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. Edgar Åström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hjalmar Backlund might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hjalmar Backlund ran back to his position shaking his head. 22 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hjalmar Backlund. Carl Ivarsson got a throw-in 24 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Marcin Zajac. Edgar Åström stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Viriato Moura's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. The supporters of The Swedish Nightmare booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipe Barreto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute Felipe Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar Åström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Felipe Barreto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edgar Åström. The Swedish Nightmare's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felipe Barreto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Hjalmar Backlund struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Swedish Nightmare. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Hjalmar Backlund made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Faustino Almeida fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Felipe Barreto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgar Åström read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan-Olof Nordlund in the 55th minute of play. Edgar Åström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano Moreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portugal's Bruno Bastos quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Carl Ivarsson, made in the 61st minute of the game. If Daniel Pimentel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. 72 minutes into the match, The Swedish Nightmare's goalkeeper Edgar Åström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felipinho Amorim. In the 76th minute, Bruno Bastos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, The Swedish Nightmare's Carl Ivarsson got a free kick in the 77th minute. Edgar Åström was a little too slow when Felipinho Amorim got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 1-2. Bartolomeu Dias in the 82ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Edgar Åström, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Marcin Zajac made in the 86th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Urban Apelquist however managed to control. The throw-in from Marcin Zajac in the 93rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Portugal's Fabricio Andrade. In the 94th minute, The Swedish Nightmare's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bartolomeu Dias fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Portugal players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
