Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paolo Rossi ran back to his position shaking his head. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paolo Rossi in the 4th minute. Flavio Gonchan's late challenge caught a Portugal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Flavio Gonchan helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Portugal booed when La Gallardeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Gonchan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Amorim was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Paolo Rossi showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Dalmacio Gartzea in the 11th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. 12 minutes into the match, La Gallardeta's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Nacho Gonzalez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paolo Rossi got free with Wilson Amorim in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 15 minutes into the match, La Gallardeta's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Nacho Gonzalez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dalmacio Gartzea got a throw-in 21 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Attilio Stefano. After 22 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Rodolfo Miranda. In the 26th minute, Felipe Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. La Gallardeta's Nacho Gonzalez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 29th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felipe Barreto in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nacho Gonzalez saved La Gallardeta from getting behind. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Haimar in the 33rd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. The nice shot from Attilio Stefano in the 36thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Wilson Amorim had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 38th minute of play forced La Gallardeta's goalkeeper Nacho Gonzalez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dalmacio Gartzea charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dalmacio Gartzea the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

La Gallardeta made a substitution. Amado Chayo replaced Attilio Stefano. The wind increased when Viriato Moura made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of La Gallardeta booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viriato Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paolo Rossi, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Nacho Gonzalez made a huge save. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 64th minute after La Gallardeta's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felipe Barreto took the corner. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Caetano Moreira slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nacho Gonzalez. That made the score 1-2 after 67 minutes of play. 74 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Amado Chayo came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paolo Rossi struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Gallardeta. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. La Gallardeta's Esteban Leizarraga was substituted for Teodoro Delfino. With an all-out effort, Portugal's Nacho Gonzalez threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bartolomeu Dias, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Dantae in the 80th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the game, Fernando Dantae cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Wilson Amorim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 85th minute Amado Chayo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nacho Gonzalez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. La Gallardeta's Nacho Gonzalez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Pimentel in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Rafael Haimar managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Gallardeta's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafael Haimar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 91 minutes into the game, La Gallardeta's Fernando Dantae nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Nacho Gonzalez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Haimar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel got a free kick in the 97th minute. In the 98th minute, Fernando Dantae left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The La Gallardeta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. La Gallardeta fully deserved thier win.
