Takis Koutsos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt got a free kick in the 17th minute. Takis Koutsos came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt. But to his dismay, Gustaaf Groeneveldt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Takis Koutsos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 22nd minute of play. Takis Koutsos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 24th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Doru Lițu made a kick off. Doru Lițu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnout Reekers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Lițu, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Takis Koutsos having to interfere. In the 58th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Takis Koutsos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Róbson Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wim Wilmes in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Takis Koutsos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Róbson Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, The Beatles's Elder Santos got a free kick in the 65th minute. 66 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Takis Koutsos. Wim Wilmes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Takis Koutsos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Beatles's Frederico Messias was substituted for Reinaldo Trancoso. The Beatles's Zeca Brodel was substituted for Doru Lițu. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Takis Koutsos having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Takis Koutsos in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbson Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zeca Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Netherlands had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
