Alan Prestes kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After 18 played minutes Skyrim got a freekick which was hit by Zbyszek Kapinos. In the 24th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fernando Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Skyrim's Alan Prestes got a free kick in the 25th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored 0-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Fernando Falcão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bas Tuitert to maneuver through the defense. In the 33rd minute, Washington Negri sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Netherlands's Arnout Reekers didn't even have to move. In the 61st minute, Egbert Nijveldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Fernando Falcão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 65th minute of play. In the 70th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Skyrim's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Egbert Nijveldt managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Sérgio Madureira's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sérgio Madureira helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Skyrim getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Sérgio Madureira hit a great ball. Luiz Fernando Falcão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 75th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Skyrim's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Luiz Fernando Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Skyrim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Luiz Fernando Falcão in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Luiz Fernando Falcão made a huge save. 88 minutes into the match, Skyrim's goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Falcão had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes. Skyrim's Iosif Stancu got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luiz Fernando Falcão. Luiz Fernando Falcão yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. The Skyrim supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Netherlands's performance. The match ended with a win for Netherlands.
