Burkhardt Teubler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rene Kreiser, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Biene Maja 09's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Burkhardt Teubler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rene Kreiser in the 21st minute of play. After having played for 29 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nils Hydén got free with Arnout Reekers in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th minute, Biene Maja 09's Ullrich Böhlert ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. 41 minutes into the match, Biene Maja 09's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Burkhardt Teubler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. After some careless play in the Biene Maja 09 defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Burkhardt Teubler. The Biene Maja 09 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Burkhardt Teubler should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Biene Maja 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Volker Hanisch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marc Trabold hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Burkhardt Teubler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
