After some careless play in the Guararapes defense, Edward Vanderstraeten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romeu Guedes. The Guararapes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romeu Guedes should have stopped the shot. Romeu Guedes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 42nd minute of the match. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romeu Guedes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Belgium booed when Guararapes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Guararapes's Romeu Guedes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Guararapes from getting a goal against them. In the 91stth minute of the game Vinicio Bermudo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Belgium's Casper Claes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
