An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 21st minute of play forced GOMERASPOR's goalkeeper Nils Krüger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tahir Hallaç in the 22nd minute of play. After 24 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Bas Tuitert. Nils Krüger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. 47 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nils Krüger narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for GOMERASPOR. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than GOMERASPOR throughout the match.
