Spectators: 50 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) A.S. Udinese's Alessio Zoccali started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessio Zoccali in the 8th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Portugal's Graciano Coutinho pulled a muscle in his leg after 13 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Olivér Bierhoff's late challenge caught a Portugal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Olivér Bierhoff helped the player get up and apologised. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Graciano Coutinho. After 13 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for A.S. Udinese! Felipe Barreto shot the penalty kick right outside the post. After some careless play in the Portugal defense, Alessio Zoccali kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. A.S. Udinese's Alessio Zoccali got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by A.S. Udinese's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Barreto was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Viriato Moura almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili did a great save. In the 47th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. Alvaro Rotili showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano Moreira in the 57th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 59th minute of the game. One of Portugal:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of A.S. Udinese:s goal. In the 72nd minute of the match A.S. Udinese got a corner. Portugal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alberigo Di Franco ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Alberigo Di Franco got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilson Amorim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Alvaro Rotili took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabricio Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 76 minutes had been played when some careless play by A.S. Udinese's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Viriato Moura was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Portugal's Felipinho Amorim getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 78th minute, Caetano Moreira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Felipinho Amorim received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alvaro Rotili came out and tried to block the shot, but Felipinho Amorim slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 84th minute. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by A.S. Udinese's Alessio Zoccali. But to his dismay, Alessio Zoccali quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. After having played for 95 minutes, Alexander Bottone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.S. Udinese's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexander Bottone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A.S. Udinese's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
