A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Uwe Septinius quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Federico Insúa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uwe Septinius having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Uwe Septinius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 51st minute of play. Uwe Septinius came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 76 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. In the 80th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uwe Septinius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
