Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andolín Echeandía, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 11th minute of play forced Lautaro L.P.'s goalkeeper Salvador Ortega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lautaro L.P.'s Salvador Ortega played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 19th minute of play. Fulco Urra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnout Reekers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Salvador Ortega showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Salvador Ortega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 33rd minute of play. Wang Peng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Arnout Reekers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Lautaro L.P. getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Eugenio Irisarri hit a great ball. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee felt a red card was in order, 43 minutes into the game, when Qi Jun Xiang put in a rough tackle. After 42 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lautaro L.P.! After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andolín Echeandía stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Lautaro L.P. got a freekick which was hit by Gary Medel. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Gary Medel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. Salvador Ortega took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Gary Medel came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute, Lautaro L.P.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Lars Meesters fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When the final whistle sounded Netherlands left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lautaro L.P..
