Cássio Ferraz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 8thth minute, Wilson Amorim skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After having played for 9 minutes, Donato Oliveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olivedos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donato Oliveira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 19 minutes into the game, Donato Oliveira recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Wilson Amorim. Donato Oliveira showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. With an all-out effort, Olivedos's Wilson Amorim threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Donato Oliveira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 31st minute Donato Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Moreira in the 33rd minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Rômulo Custódio tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Viriato Moura was the one to do the kick off. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Abelardo Maranhense made a huge save. 57 minutes into the match, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Abelardo Maranhense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 65 minutes into the match, Felipe Barreto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Abelardo Maranhense, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rômulo Custódio in the 70th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Novaes kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Felipinho Amorim struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Abelardo Maranhense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugal. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Abelardo Maranhense successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
