Igor Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 10th minute of the match. Dal 3ello's Igor Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 15th minute of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lee Dal Bello to make the kick off. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dino Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 52nd minute Dino Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Igor Taffarel having to interfere. After 58 minutes, Belmiro Jacinto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dal 3ello and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Igor Taffarel in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Davi Dal Bello in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 71 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Davi Dal Bello came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Dal 3ello was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Lamonica didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th minute Davi Dal Bello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A very good chance. Lars Meesters in the 88thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Igor Taffarel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 89 minutes, David Eikelkamp mouthed his way into the referee's book. Igor Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Netherlands were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
