An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 22nd minute of play forced Atlético Argentino's goalkeeper Raimundo Feliu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Atlético Argentino's goal looked a bit too open when Siricio Liotta came free, but Raimundo Feliu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Italy were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Atlético Argentino's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sigfrido Auletta took the corner. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josemir Lujambio in the 30th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Sigfrido Auletta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raimundo Feliu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Raimundo Feliu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitor Tejedor in the 37th minute of play. In the 37th minute Vitor Tejedor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raimundo Feliu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Porziano Marchitelli in the 38th minute of play. Raimundo Feliu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Porziano Marchitelli went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 41 minutes into the match, Italy's Siricio Liotta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Raimundo Feliu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Siricio Liotta in the 42nd minute of play forced Atlético Argentino's goalkeeper Raimundo Feliu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eufemio Yabbarov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 49th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vitor Tejedor to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Italy booed when Atlético Argentino was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eufemio Yabbarov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sostene Vitulli hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josemir Lujambio in the 61st minute of play. Raimundo Feliu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitor Tejedor in the 65th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Italy defense, Luis Vázquez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Flavio Vittori. The Italy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavio Vittori should have stopped the shot. Atlético Argentino made a substitution. Pascual Ledesma replaced Aldo Arce. Zaccheo Andolina could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Raimundo Feliu made a huge save. Raimundo Feliu made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Sigfrido Auletta sent off a good shot on target. Raimundo Feliu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 84th minute. Atlético Argentino's Raimundo Feliu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 89th minute of play. After 91 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Gomberto Picozzi. Italy made a substitution. Sansone Vanella replaced Gianpaolo Mascari. After 93 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Gomberto Picozzi. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Curto got free with Raimundo Feliu in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Italy supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Italy would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
