An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 12th minute of play forced Artigas's goalkeeper Furtado Codina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Leocadio Teja tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22ndth minute of the game Florentino Fidalgo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Artigas's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Furtado Codina reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Gijsbert ter Kruimer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Artigas's goalkeeper Furtado Codina, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Furtado Codina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 34th minute of play. Leocadio Teja in the 42ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Arnout Reekers, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saturnin Sanches in the 46th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Netherlands were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Artigas's Benet Añe was substituted for Saturnin Sanches. Artigas made a substitution. Sadurni Nadal replaced Florentino Fidalgo. In the 57th minute, Wim Wilmes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Furtado Codina. The goal made the score 0-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Wim Wilmes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Furtado Codina. That made the score 0-3 in the 62 minute of play. In the 64th minute, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Furtado Codina. Furtado Codina yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Furtado Codina made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lia Engraba in the 73rd minute of play. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Furtado Codina having to interfere. In the 83rd minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Furtado Codina was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Lia Engraba might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lia Engraba ran back to his position shaking his head. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lia Engraba in the 84th minute of play. A throw-in in the 89th minute of the game was made by Lars Meesters with Gijsbert ter Kruimer as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 93rd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Furtado Codina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lia Engraba in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
