With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Elizardo Massana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lars Batzer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Wim Wilmes hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lars Meesters was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 45 minutes, Cortez Olalde mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carqueja and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. Netherlands made a substitution. Sijmen Clous replaced Wim Wilmes. In the 47th minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lars Batzer skillfully saved the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elizardo Massana made a kick off. Cortez Olalde kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Carqueja's goal looked a bit too open when Sijmen Clous came free, but Lars Batzer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 60th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 62nd minute Mario Vielva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Egbert Nijveldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan-Alfredo Solares in the 66th minute of the match. If Sijmen Clous had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lauro Santandres hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match.
