La Mandarina Mecánica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Lars Meesters heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Naike Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Arnaldo Colas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnout Reekers having to interfere. In the 23rdth minute of the game Gijsbert ter Kruimer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but La Mandarina Mecánica's Naike Abalos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lars Meesters was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Naike Abalos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 26th minute of the match. In the 29th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naike Abalos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gijsbert ter Kruimer to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 34 minutes, Gustaaf Groeneveldt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Naike Abalos saved La Mandarina Mecánica from getting behind. Netherlands's Lars Meesters managed to work through La Mandarina Mecánica's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Lars Meesters dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Naike Abalos made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. When Arnaldo Colas came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the La Mandarina Mecánica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Colas couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 68th minute of play forced La Mandarina Mecánica's goalkeeper Naike Abalos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, La Mandarina Mecánica's Naike Abalos got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line.
