After a defensive mix-up in MC ESPANHOL's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teófilo Belém came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 13 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frits Evenhuis who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Arnout Reekers when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kostas Sourpis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teófilo Belém made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 41st minute of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Serpa in the 43rd minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Teófilo Belém in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Netherlands booed when MC ESPANHOL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgílio Serpa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Teófilo Belém in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 68 minutes into the game, Mauro Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MC ESPANHOL's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. After a rather tough play, MC ESPANHOL's Mauro Nascimento got a free kick in the 68th minute. MC ESPANHOL made a substitution. Vasco Perdigão replaced Mauro Nascimento. After 69 played minutes MC ESPANHOL got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Nascimento. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Máximo Palma in the 73rd minute of play. Teófilo Belém made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 75th minute of play. When Kostas Sourpis came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the MC ESPANHOL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kostas Sourpis couldn't finish the play. After 82 played minutes MC ESPANHOL got a freekick which was hit by Frits Evenhuis. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Teófilo Belém didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. After 87 played minutes MC ESPANHOL got a freekick which was hit by Emilian Ghiorman. Severino Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by MC ESPANHOL's Frits Evenhuis. But to his dismay, Frits Evenhuis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After a rather tough play, MC ESPANHOL's Emilian Ghiorman got a free kick in the 93rd minute. João Gomes kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The MC ESPANHOL players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
