Frank Sachs might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelsinho Nascimento. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Sachs ran back to his position shaking his head. Nelsinho Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Sachs in the 29th minute of play. After 32 played minutes Guará FC got a freekick which was hit by Jordan Radojević. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Nascimento having to interfere. In the 38th minute of the match Guará FC got a corner. Germany's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zé Pedro Baiano ran over to the corner to take the kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Nelsinho Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 52 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Makan Baksø came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Dreifuss to maneuver through the defense. After 65 minutes, Gustavo Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guará FC and the Germany players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Germany booed when Guará FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th match minute, Guará FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harold Willson to maneuver through the defense. Luís Pombal's late challenge caught a Germany's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
