In the 13th minute Sigfrido Auletta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lars Batzer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Italy's Sigfrido Auletta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 20th minute, Cortez Olalde hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lars Batzer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 24th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Carqueja defense, Zaccheo Andolina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lars Batzer. The Carqueja fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lars Batzer should have stopped the shot. Zaccheo Andolina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lars Batzer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Flavio Vittori made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Mario Vielva sent off a good shot on target. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan-Alfredo Solares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lars Batzer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sostene Vitulli in the 41st minute of the match. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mario Vielva in the 43rd minute of play. Flavio Vittori was a little too slow when Mario Vielva got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Flavio Vittori was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
