Arnout Reekers was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nils Hopp showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. Julius Aumann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 29 minutes into the game, Großberghofen's Irmin Michalsky nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. In the 33rd minute, Gerd Della hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Julius Aumann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julius Aumann having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Edwin Eberl came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Großberghofen booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Meesters didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Irmin Michalsky, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Großberghofen's Edwin Eberl in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 65 minutes into the match, Sven Appenzeller had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sven Appenzeller was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Julius Aumann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the game, Großberghofen's Edwin Eberl nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julius Aumann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play.
