Emiliano Piola kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Pra Mezzan's zone, Samuele Kunz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruno Di Cristofaro came out of the goal and Samuele Kunz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emiliano Piola scored 1-0 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hias Nüssli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 19 played minutes Switzerland got a freekick which was hit by Samuele Kunz. Hias Nüssli stood somewhat misplaced when Emiliano Piola came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 21 minute. In the 27th minute of the match, Emiliano Piola tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Hias Nüssli saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pra Mezzan's goalkeeper Bruno Di Cristofaro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Samuele Kunz hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emiliano Piola to make the kick off. Hias Nüssli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emiliano Piola, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Fridolin Neumeister hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Felice Antenucci charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felice Antenucci the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pra Mezzan fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 72nd minute. Penalty! After some careless play in the Switzerland defense, Emiliano Piola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hias Nüssli. The Switzerland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hias Nüssli should have stopped the shot. Hias Nüssli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emiliano Piola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hias Nüssli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Formica in the 92nd minute of the match.
